Is the world taking a spin for the worst?

It seems lately lots and lots of horrible stuff is happening, closer and closer to home.

- In US and Canada, 3 school shootings in a week. This most recent one, was a quiet family man with 3 kids, who tied up and shot firing squad style a group of young girls.
- A friend of mine is being sent off to Afghanistan soon. Canadian soldiers are seemingly being killed at an alarming rate by suicide bombers.
- increasing amount of rogue nations (like Iran and North Korea, currently being run by fundamentalists (read: fucking insane people)) who are developing nuclear capability. I don't mind countries having nuclear power, as long as they aren't run by such nuts. If you understand how to make nuclear power, you can make a nuclear bomb (since it's technically easier). All that's missing is a better grade of radioactive material.
-Increasing terrorist plots.

The list goes on and on. This resulted from watching Canadian and local news, to boot.

Well, the easy thing that, in the past 4 years, people have voiced is to blame everything on Bush, and the Bush administration. Sure, having a complete moron backed by rich corporate oil mongrels run the most powerful country in the world certainly isn't a good thing, I do think it goes deeper than that.

How deep, I'm not sure.

Well, at least I don't buy into the "permanent" global warming effect (with only 100 years or so of weather data, we really only know relatively transient conditions in predicting weather on a global scale), yet, at least. With the current state of affairs in the world, I think it's more likely we'll blow the planet to pieces before weather becomes an extremely deadly factor.
